Anthony E. Meyer

President, Ocean Road Advisors, Inc. and Chairman, Meyer and Co. LLC

Anthony E. Meyer, 62, is a New York City-based entrepreneur, private investor, and philanthropist. He is the President of Ocean Road Advisors, Inc. (www.oceanroadadvisors.com), a privately-held “family office” investment management company he founded in 2005. Ocean Road Advisors manages a diversified investment portfolio of public and private securities, hedge funds, real estate and venture capital on behalf of a multi-generational New York City-based family. Mr. Meyer also serves as the Chairman of privately-held Meyer and Co., LLC (www.meyerandco.com), a New York City-based merchant banking firm he founded in 2002.

As an entrepreneur, in 2004, Mr. Meyer founded Extend Health, Inc. (www.extendhealth.com), a leading provider of health benefits management services and exchange technologies that was sold in 2012 to publicly-traded benefits consultancy Towers Watson. In 2007, he founded Graduation Alliance (www.graduationalliance.com) an educational technology and services company that provides versatile pathways to high school graduation, fosters college and career exploration, and connects job creators to skilled and ready workers.

As an investor, from 1994 through 2001, Mr. Meyer was a Managing Director at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, a leading global, private investment bank, where he was a founding partner of Lazard Frères Real Estate Investors LLC (LFREI), Lazard’s real estate investment management affiliate and the firm’s largest principal investment business. Previously, from 1984 to 1993, he was a General Partner of Trammell Crow Company, one of the largest diversified real estate companies in the U.S, where he co-founded Trammell Crow Ventures, Crow’s investment management affiliate.

An active social entrepreneur and engaged citizen, Mr. Meyer currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the City University of New York’s William E. Macaulay Honors College Foundation and is a member of the Executive Council and the immediate past Chair of the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee.  He is also a member of the board of Fellows of Weill Cornell Medicine and a Trustee of Geneva-based U.N. Watch.  In New York City, Mr. Meyer has also sponsored new social initiatives such as the Innovation Zone of the NYC Department of Education, the Well Program of charity: water, the FDNY Foundation’s “Ready Room 24/7 Project”, the “Hacking Education” data project of DonorsChoose and the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission’s “Taxi of the Future” initiative.  Previously, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Literacy Instruction for Texas (L.I.F.T.), Vice Chairman of The World of Children Award, Director of Dr. Mehmet Oz’s HealthCorps, Co-Founder of the No Labels political organization, and Board member of the Young Leadership Cabinet of the United Jewish Appeal and The Educational Alliance settlement organization.

Mr. Meyer also serves on the Investment and/or Advisory Committees of several for-profit and non-profit organizations. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and roundtables about entrepreneurship, family office management, and social enterprise and has also guest lectured in real estate, finance, and entrepreneurship at numerous institutions including Stanford University, New York University, Southern Methodist University and the City University of New York.

Mr. Meyer graduated from Harvard College in 1982 as a John Harvard Scholar, with a magna cum laude degree in Economics, and received his MBA from Harvard Business School with distinction in 1984.

He is married and lives in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
